Members of NBEA are encouraged to submit articles for publication in Business Education Forum. Here's what you need to know about writing for your association's journal.
What to Write
Write the kind of article you would like to read. Business Education Forum is geared toward teachers in the field of business education. The style of the publication is academic, and its aim is to improve learning for students or make teaching more effective and interesting. The information appearing in Business Education Forum should not be readily available in other magazines or journals. Ideas should be developed clearly and comprehensively with supporting graphs and tables, if necessary. Avoid excessive jargon in favor of concise, specific, and concrete prose. Use active, not passive, words and phrases. Be sure to proofread your article for errors in grammar, punctuation, and spelling. A list of references should be included. Do not use footnotes. The closing paragraph in each article should be summarizing in nature and worthy of emphasis.
Length of Copy
Your manuscript should run from 1,500 to 2,000 words, or six to eight pages of double-spaced copy, using a 12-point font.
Manuscript Format
Use standard, 8-1/2 x 11 inches, white paper. Manuscripts should be legible and double-spaced, (except for long quotes of four or more lines). When printed, primary headings should be flush left and boldface on a single line. The Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (Fifth Edition) should be consulted for further questions of style. For ease of editing, a disk version of your article, compatible with Microsoft Word for a PC, must be included.
Membership
In order to publish a manuscript in Business Education Forum, the author(s) must be a member of the NBEA. Articles must also be submitted exclusively to Business Education Forum; one article per year can be published by an author(s).
Acceptance
Please allow approximately two months for your manuscript to be reviewed. Business Education Forum is
reviewed by a section editor who is a professional business educator and two
NBEA staff editors. Business Education Forum is listed in
Cabell's Directory of Publishing Opportunities. Please submit your article to the appropriate section editor.
Editing
Business Education Forum section editors often make suggestions for revisions to manuscripts accepted for publication. These suggestions can include cutting or adding material, as well as stylistic changes. Editors work in conjunction with the author(s) to make these changes, and, if time permits, changes are reviewed and approved by the author(s) before publication. A copyright release form is sent along as well. NBEA does not assume responsibility for the points of view or the opinions expressed by the author(s) unless such statements have been established by a resolution of the Association.
Photographs and Graphics
Tables, graphs, diagrams, and photographs should be used if they contribute to the article and enhance its clarity. Graphics, such as illustrations or photographs, may not be embedded in the word processing file; they must be submitted as a separate PC, EPS or TIFF, file.
Copyright Permission
Obtaining permission to use charts, photographs, or any book, magazine, or newspaper excerpts in an article is the author's responsibility.
Bylines
Authors should include their names, titles, and the schools where they teach. An e-mail address should also be provided, so that readers may contact the authors.
