Our Story

At the National Business Honor Society Collegiate (NBHS-C), our chapter leaders are passionate about providing high-quality business education. Our story began with a desire to recognize excellence in business education regardless of a student's background or location. We believe education and the recognition of achievement are powerful tools that can transform lives and create positive change in the world.

Learning and recognition in action

A chapter is more than a line on a résumé. Research consistently links participation in academic honor organizations to stronger engagement, persistence, and post-graduation outcomes. An NBHS-C chapter gives your business program a structured, low-overhead way to celebrate the students who are doing the work — and to show prospective students what your program values.

What are the requirements to start an NBHS-C chapter?

Four steps take you from interest to a chartered chapter.

  1. Decide

Recognition starts at the institutional level, when you decide to start a local NBHS-C chapter with cooperation from your administration.

  2. Faculty join

At least two faculty members from your institution must be NBEA members affiliated with the post-secondary Council for Business Teaching and Research. This commitment demonstrates and documents excellence in business teaching.

  3. Faculty apply

NBHS-C provides everything you need — bylaws, guides, templates, and more.

  4. Students join & engage

Students join through our easy-to-administer management system. Your institution receives a framed charter declaration, and students receive a certificate and a verifiable digital badge for their online portfolios.

I'm a student — how do I join NBHS-C?

Student members of the National Business Honor Society must join through an institution with an approved chapter. If you would like an NBHS-C chapter at your institution, start by discussing the idea with one of your business-related educators — a teacher, instructor, professor, dean, or assistant dean.

What do I get for being part of an NBHS-C chapter?
  • Approved chapters receive a beautifully framed charter founding your school's chapter.
  • Upon registering and paying their applicable dues, students receive a modern personalized certificate, an NBHS keychain, a lapel pin, and a digital badge for sharing their achievement in the digital ecosystem.
