The September edition of the NBEA newsletter features professional-development opportunities, volunteer openings, community conversations, and important dates for business educators.

AI Academy Registration and Award Nominations

Time is running out to register for the NBEA Southern Region AI Academy, taking place October 12–13, 2026, in Franklin, Tennessee. Participants will explore practical ways to integrate artificial intelligence into teaching and leadership while working toward a recognized micro-credential in Artificial Intelligence in Education.

The discounted hotel room-block deadline is September 9.

NBEA is also accepting nominations for several educator and leadership awards to be presented during the academy. The nomination deadline is September 7.

Connect Through the New NBEA Community

The new NBEA online community gives business educators a place to exchange resources, discuss classroom challenges, and build professional connections. Current conversations address AI’s proper role in teaching, AI-assisted note-taking, using finance-related novels in accounting courses, and presentation opportunities for accounting educators.

Members can select communities matching their teaching areas and professional interests by updating their NBEA profiles.

Volunteer With NBEA

NBEA is seeking volunteers for its 2026–2027 committees, councils, and topic-focused task forces. New opportunities include groups concentrating on artificial intelligence, personal finance, and membership engagement.

Members may select up to two workgroups. Applications close September 15, 2026.

Save the Date for the 2027 Conference

The 2027 National Business Educators Conference will be held March 31–April 2, 2027, in Omaha, Nebraska. March 31 will serve as the preconference day.

The call for proposals is now open for concurrent sessions and the Business Education Research Conference. Educators and researchers are invited to share innovative teaching strategies, practical classroom ideas, research, and effective practices. Proposals are due November 1, 2026.
